Atex, Reading, England, has rolled out the first installation of Atex AdBaseE self-service ad booking in France, enabling Paris-Normandie to create a sales channel for new revenue streams while maintaining control over ad production.

Paris-Normandie, a local daily, is part of Group Hersant Média (GHM), which also distributes classified freesheets and operates local TV and radio stations. The group selected AdBaseE to implement a new way to package ads through the Web for its newspapers in Normandy.

A main goal of the project was to outsource and automate production in a particular market segment—booking of obituaries. The Web portal service offered by the paper is open to private parties and funeral homes and agencies. It reduces the risk of mistakes, improves production deadline management, and provides opportunities for 24/7 ad placement.

Agencies can view and adjust orders at any time. Using assisted procedures, the online solution allows customers to select the section of the publication, and the categories, add photos and graphics, choose a rate, and print a receipt. Agencies can also easily answer relatives' questions and control their budget.

Source: <a href="http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/departments/technology/article_d... target="_blank">Editor & Publisher
