Hotel Sparks Sales with Apprenticeship Contest

When the economy gets tough, the creative get…more creative. Hotels today are finding innovative ways to market their restaurants and bars to travelers and the local community.

The most recent example, is the NYLO Sales Apprenticeship contest. With roughly 11 percent of Rhode Islanders searching for work, the unique competition takes place this week for a sales job at the brand’s Providence/Warwick hotel.

Starting today, 10 finalists will be thrown together to live, eat and sleep at the property until Thursday night, when they stage a fundraiser in the hotel’s restaurant/bar for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

Contestants will participate in daily sales challenges to spread the word about the hotel and to drum up interest in the fundraiser. One student contestant will get a paid internship.

Winners will be announced Thursday night at the fundraiser, taking place at The Loft at NYLO Providence/Warwick.
