Research shows males may multitask better than their female counterparts

Here’s your counterintuitive research finding for the month: Thanks to better spatial-reasoning skills, men have an edge over women in multitasking, according to a new study.

Conventional wisdom has long presented the notion that women are far superior at tackling multiple chores at once, but psychological scientist Timo Mantyla of Stockholm University has completed research that shows otherwise.

Men’s greater ability to hold and manipulate a multitude of tasks and objectives in “mental space” sets them apart. The results will be reported in a future issue of the journal Psychological Science. In the meantime, Huffington Post contributor Wray Herbert explains more about the study in a blog post (go to huffingtonpost.com and search for Timo Mantyla).
