eLearning goes mobile

The eLearning Industry (elearningindustry.com) estimates the worldwide market for mobile learning products and services will reach $12.2 billion by 2017. The online corporate market is expected to grow by 13 percent per year up to 2017. Today, 77 percent of U.S. companies offer online corporate training to improve the professional development of their employees.

Seventy percent of modern learners use smartphones to learn, in large part because they are learning at the point of need. “In spite of these mobile-friendly numbers, only 12 percent of corporate education is mobile-compatible, leaving a void that needs bridging by learning technology,” states Steven Penfold, customer success director at eLearning software provider Elucidat. “You need more designs with modern learning needs in mind, incorporating factors such as when and where learning happens.”
